At the beginning of the 20^th century, many artists migrated to Paris, the intellectual capital. These foreigners brought to French painting their talent and experiences and contributed to the development and the enrichment of the city. Between the two World Wars, another generation of artists arrived from Russia, fleeing the political events and  brought with them abstraction,  which made them famous. After the end of the Second World War, the movement blossomed with the arrival of young artists, namely those of the Cobra Group (Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam). These artists refused a descriptive art but  wished to express their emotions in the face of the realities in which they lived.
