In 1950, when he was 20 years old, Jean-Jacques Duval, a native of Strasbourg (France) moved to the United States to begin his career as a stained glass artist with a major design studio. He was immediately very successful. After a few years, he opened his own design studio in New York and was one of the first architectural stained glass designers in the United States to use dalle de verre. He then also resumed painting with the same ardour as when he was young. He has completed over 500 works, mostly stained glass and paintings in the United States, Canada, Japan, Belgium, France and Germany. In 2005, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the prestigious Stained Glass Association of America. The rich and soft colours characteristic of Jean-Jacques Duval are a source of energy and encouragement.
