SHALLOW WATERS
new works by C.L. Dunning Opening: Sept. 9th, from 5pm-8pm |
|
“When you stand in shallow waters and look down you see a world between the sand at your feet and the surface of the water. There are sticks and stones, weeds and leaves, clams and sand ripples, a myriad of things. You stand in it yet you observe it detached. When you look up there is a sky above you and the world around you. The Flotsam and Jetsam of the Shallow Waters are a microcosm of our lives. We drift yet we are a part of something, part of a pattern, and we long for an overview to see how we fit in.” Christopher Lea Dunning has been painting for twenty five years since graduating from The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax and Carleton University in Ottawa. He has also studied with Chan Ky-Yut. He has work in private and public collections including that of the city of Ottawa and External Affairs. Christopher Lea Dunning looks for a synthesis of painting that is devoid of imitation and memory where the painting is the experience itself. |
