“I believe the environment is a powerful influence in my work since I paint and work by the sea in the Caribbean on the island of St.Vincent, West Indies.  Light, colours and the lush mountainous environment are a great source of inspiration.

The “ Blue mood ”series is a playful mixed media work, where I use abstract shapes and symbols, with an addition of patterns. The treatment of both colours and shapes may be raw on purpose. Bold and gestural strokes give a dynamic feeling to the whole.”

Cécile Comblen was born in Belgium and  studied art at the University of Ottawa.  Her works can be found in both public and private collections in Canada, Belgium, Great Britain and  Eastern Caribbean Islands.
