RUBRIQUES LUMINEUSES
new works by Denis Boulay Opening: May 12th, 2005 from 5pm to 8pm |
|
Denis Boulay is a born colorist. Since the days of his visual arts studies, his paintings have been distinguished by the richness of the palette he uses. His textures have progressed from a coarse to a lighter application. To his playful and rhythmical spots have been added figurative elements emanating from daily life. The exhibition 'Rubriques lumineuses' reflects the luxuriant colours which characterize Denis Boulay's work. The painter incites his audience to participate in his universe where emotion and structure are combined. The artist feels a certain affinity for European painters he admires: Vuillard, Klimt, de Staël, Bonnard, Matisse. Denis Boulay joined Calligrammes Gallery in 1983. Since then, he has had several solo shows and has participated in various group exhibits. His works can be found in both public and private collections in Canada and abroad (Mexico, Germany, The United States). |
