“Music at Midday is a series of mixed media works on paper, inspired by the improvised and syncopated sounds of Jazz music.

The images are composed of an assembly of rectangular pieces of paper, laying a rhythmical ground on which to work.  Spontaneous, gestural strokes, in a variety of media, move across the paper providing a lively melody rich in colour and form.

Music at Midday reflects a journey through the layers of sound, a pattern of chords and tones to the pulses and rhythms, evoking the energy of life."

Vivienne Bartlett was born in London, England. She studied art at Brighton and Middlesex universities, specializing in constructed textiles. She was drawn increasingly to painting and has exhibited in London, Brighton and Ottawa where she now lives and works.
